A TEFL Course – your round trip ticket….to anywhere

Stop Making Excuses and Go See the World!

Have you been thinking about travelling the world for a while now but so far been all talk and no action? Now is the time to stop making excuses for yourself and discover the world. Here are all your problems solved, take a look:

1- Too expensive

It’s natural to think that if you want to go travelling you’ll have to rob a bank to fund it but this not really the case at all. All you need is a TEFL course and you could be on your way to exploring the world because once you’re certified you will be paid to teach English as foreign language wherever you go and you’ll soon find the money you spent on your course and flight making its way back to you. ROI is what they call it in the business world ;)

tefl abroad2- Fear of going alone

The idea of going travelling is very exciting to most but understandably some find the idea of being in a new country alone a very daunting prospect. Still, having the chance to teach English as a foreign language in a new country and to make a difference in your students’ life an experience of a life time that makes the whole adventure beyond fulfilling and fun. Find this tempting but still afraid of going on your own? Why not enroll in a supported programme such as an internship in Thailand or China?

3- Work commitments

Be honest, do you actually enjoy your job? Are you really passionate about it or does it just pay the bills? – Thought as much! If that’s the case then why stay in a job you hate when you could be seeing the world. After all you don’t want to have any regrets in life do you?

4- Not the right time

It’s up to you to make now the right time! Once you start telling yourself that it’s not the right time you never get the motivation to get the ball rolling. When else in your life are you going to have as little commitments as you do now?!

tefl abroad5- Too much effort

Effort?! What effort?! Do you really want to have regrets in life that you didn’t go travelling because you thought it was too much hassle to organise it? Thought not! Plus it doesn’t need to be an effort anyway, especially if you decide to teach abroad. i-to-i can make things easier for you with a teaching internship and you can always get help and advice from others on their Chalkboard.

6- Worried about living in another country

Don’t feel like you’re the only one that’s feeling a bit anxious about living in an unfamiliar country. The idea of being lonely, not liking the local food and not being able to communicate in the local language would scare anyone but living abroad doesn’t mean being lonely, in fact it’s the total opposite! You’ll be meeting new people and making tons of new friends from your students to friendly locals but it’s a good idea to learn a few phrases just to make things that little bit easier. When it comes to your tummy, don’t be afraid that you wont like the local food because there will be something to your liking in most local eateries. If not, rest assured there will be something just around the corner that will make you feel at home.

7- Your friends and family

Of course you’ll miss your friends and family – that’s only normal. But with the wonders of the internet, no matter where you go, they’re only a Skype call away. Plus, it’s really easy to make lots of new friends when you’re traveling, especially if you’re teaching abroad.

8- Too young / old

Age is just a number, it really shouldn’t stop you following your dream. If you think you’re too young to travel… you’re not. If you work while you travel, you’ll be gaining great work experience which will be invaluable to you in later life! Conversely, if you think you’re too old… again you’re not! We know people in their 70s who have taught abroad so if the travel bug’s bitten you late in life, don’t let your age hold you back!

So are you ready to stop making excuses and get out there and go see the world?!

    Hi Velia,
Check out Proyecto TEFL in Montezuma, Costa Rica. Your family will love staying for four weeks in paradise and you both can earn your internationally-recongnized TEFL teaching certificates!

My husband and i are both interested in getting tefl certified to teach abroad. We don’t have any teaching experience or degrees, but would really like the oppurtunity to travel and see the world out there. We are still young and have three kids, so we’d like to know what our options are.We would like to take them with us but if that’s not possible other arrangements can be made.

Thank you and looking forward to your response.
